Jack Defreitas serves as the Sports Information Director at Central Bible University, overseeing the communications, digital media, statistics, branding and promotional efforts for the Saints athletic department.
Defreitas has managed sports information responsibilities at Central since returning to the University in 2013 as Director of Athletics and has officially held the title of Sports Information Director since 2023. During that time, he has overseen the production and management of content for the CBU Athletics website and social media platforms, and has compiled and maintained statistics.
His experience in sports information and digital communications extends well beyond his current role. Defreitas has a background in sports marketing, public relations, graphic design, photography, website development and content management, combining those skills to promote CBU's student-athletes, teams and athletic department.
Defreitas' involvement in Central's digital communications dates back to 2005, when he began serving as the College's website manager. From 2005-09, he designed, developed and maintained the institution's web and intranet sites while creating logos and graphics for web and print, photographing campus events and studio portraits, and producing written and video content for College departments.
From 2009-13, Defreitas worked as a web designer at Asbury University in Wilmore, Ky. He designed and developed more than 10 web and intranet themes, including the University's athletics website. He also produced promotional graphics and photographed athletic department studio portraits. The Asbury Athletics website earned fifth place nationally in the 2011 NAIA Sports Information Directors Association Website Competition.
In 2016, Defreitas founded PressboxU, a content management platform designed specifically for small-budget athletic departments. The platform was developed to provide athletic administrators with tools to manage news articles, schedules, rosters, biographies and statistics through a centralized digital infrastructure.
Defreitas also spent 10 years as Central's Director of Athletics from 2013-23. During his tenure, he worked to enhance the public image of Saints Athletics through rebranding, community service and mission initiatives, facility improvements and the promotion of the department's competitive successes.
In addition to his sports information responsibilities, Defreitas serves as CBU's Head Men's Basketball Coach. He will begin his 16th season leading the Saints in 2026-27 and his 20th season overall as a collegiate coach. He is the winningest men's basketball coach in CBU history with 177 career victories and owns the highest winning percentage among head coaches in program history.
Defreitas' combination of coaching, athletic administration and communications experience has given CBU a unique perspective in telling the stories of CBU's student-athletes and promoting the Saints athletic programs.
Defreitas earned a Bachelor of Science in General Ministry from Central in 2007 and a Master of Science in Sport Administration from Arkansas State University in 2017.
He and his wife, Tina, a 2008 Central graduate, have four children—Kirsten, Kara, Kameron and Kacie. They reside in Moberly and attend Timber Lake Christian Church.
